Strands Apparel Indian Summer Preview Party at Show & Tell in Oakland.

If you came up in the Bay… this is a must see video.  Nardwuar (from Pharrell Williams You Tube channel, “I Am Other”) takes on Bay Area legend E40.  Not only is the interview hilarious from start to finish, it also digs incredibly deep into the roots of Bay Area hip hop and puts to rest the alleged rumors of beef between him and Mac Dre.  At the end, the Bay Area legend even talks a bit about Gravity Hill… and for those of you who grew up here, I KNOW you know about gravity hill.

We feel you, Mark Twain!  That’s why we dropped sweatshirts in the summer run and we’re about to pop out some DOPE tanks and t-shirts for the fall line up.  Can’t wait to see what y’all think.

The Bones Brigade

The argument can be made that no group had a larger impact on modern streetwear than Stacey Peralta’s skate team from the 1980s… The Bones Brigade.   Tommy Guerrero, Mike McGill, Lance Mountain, Steve Caballero, and Tony Hawk were the standout skaters, in a group that dominated the comps and the mags for more than a decade.

At that time skating was widely recognized as a punishable crime and the graphics that went into designing their decks, stickers, posters, and apparel expressed their outcast rebel culture and remain a benchmark for modern streetwear lines.

We’re looking forward to Stacey Peralta’s upcoming documentary on the subject.  The Bones Brigade picks up right where Dog Town and Z Boys leaves off and if this documentary proves half the film that Dog Town was, it’s sure to be an instant Classic.  Check out a sneak peak!

The very best in guerrilla marketing, tight ropes a very fine line between legal and illegal. Decent and indecent. Like street art, we’ve chosen to decorate our clothing in much the same way. Life imitates art. Our art, imitates all of our lives, putting a personal twist on that which we encounter daily.
